Many people have asked how they can contribute to Andrew and his family directly.

If you have an interest in contributing to the Niblock family, you can make a contribution to the Niblock Family Trust. In addition to helping offset the incremental costs of living with ALS, contributions to the Niblock Family Trust go towards Andrew’s participation in advanced and experimental technology, equipment and treatments.

It is Andrew’s goal to live a long, purposeful, engaged, and full life. His commitment to his family, friends, education, and the ALS community will not waver.

Gifts to the Trust are NOT tax deductible.

Andrew and his family will face extraordinary medical and incidental expenses as a result of this diagnosis. Estimates for medical costs alone range from $200,000-$300,000/year, most of which encompass ventilation, feeding tube, and in-home care and are not covered by insurance. Additional expenses may include an estimated:

  • $50,000 for purchasing a wheelchair, patient lift, and suction machine;
  • $40,000 for a specialized van;
  • $30,000 for participation in long-term clinical trials for up to 2 years;
  • $10,000 for computer eye gaze technology allowing Andrew (who, like all ALS patients, will retain the use of his eye muscles despite complete paralysis) to continue interacting with family, friends, and work.

No one knows how long Andrew will be able to fight this disease but we are all assuming he’ll battle it longer than the average and be with us for 10+ years, leaving a tremendous financial burden on him and his family.
